ok i need help on 25 and 26 so let me know when u are on!!!
so i pretty much need some help on this homework!!
tawni do u know how to do 16?
use your difference of squares and multiply by the squareroot of 1+s over the squareroot of 1+s!
Tawni:
What do you get when you substitute -1 in for x in each of those problems? What does that tell you?
well wat do i do with that random -1 thats out there?!
you get 0 which means that it is goin to be an actual number right??
MONICA: you multiply it by all that too!!
omg im bout to stab this gay calculus book with my pencil!!!!!!!! ok so i pretty much gave up on that one....on 23 am i supposed to factor?!
i didnt but i dont know if i did it right or not.....but i got the same answer as the back of the book!! lol!
Tawni:
You get 0/0 which indicates that the answer is probably a real number. Try factoring.
Monica:
Whenever you have 2 fractions or a fraction and a number (as is the case in #16) as part of your limit, it's generally a good strategy to get a common denominator and combine the two numbers (in this case, multiply the -1 by sqrt(1+s)/sqrt(1+s). Once you've done that, you'll need to get rid of a square root which means you'll need to use the difference of squares.
It may help you to factor on #23, but it is not necessary. What do you get when you plug -2 in? What does that indicate?
so on 25 when u factor so u get x+1 over (x-1)(x+1)(x-1)??
No. x^3 + 1 is a sum of cubes. Use the formula.
u get 0 on the bottom...doesn't that mean that i'm supposed to keep workin it out till i get an answer??
Not if you get a constant over zero. A constant over zero (which is what you get in 23) means it's going to infinity or neg. infinity. You need to figure out which.
0/0 means you need to keep working with it to get a real number.
oh yea!!! so u get x+1 over (x+1)(x^2-x+1^2) right??
well if i'm not at school tomorrow i promise its cuz i'm skippin ur test to study longer!!
i'm goin to bed!!
toodles!!
love ya tawni
Tawni:
Yes. Do you see how to factor 26?
is it x+1 over (x-1)(x^3+x+1)???
oh love you too monica!! lol!!
26 isn't a difference of cubes. Try again.
sometimes u make me feel really dumb!! lol! ok umm is it x^2-1 and x^2+1??
oh yea i just kinda figured that out now by lookin at it...lol....but is the answer -1/4??
Yes. Now finish factoring x^2 - 1.
Yep, -1/4.
ok sweet thanks those were the only 2 that gave me trouble!! k well ill see you tomorrow bye!!!
See you tomorrow.
